Siddha management of Liver cirrhosis

 Liver cirrhosis is the late stage of fibrosis of liver. This may be due to repeated and sustained injury of liver, alcohol abuse or chronic hepatitis. Poor appetite, sick feeling, weight loss, jaundice and muscle atrophy are common symptoms of this disease. It can be diagnosed by Liver function test, prothrombin time test, Ultra sound Sonography (USG) of abdomen and Doppler study of portal vein.


 

In advanced cases of cirrhosis, when the liver ceases to function, a liver transplant may be the only treatment option.

Siddha medicines

  1. Tab Keezhanelli 2 - 0 -2
  2. Tab Seenthil 2-0-2
  3. Kantha chendooram 65-130 mg Twice daily with Honey.
  4. Karisalai karpa churnam 3-5 gm Twice daily.
  5. Mandoorathi kudineer 30 ml Twice daily 
  6. Sarapunga vilvathi lehyam 1tsp Twice daily after food
  7. Drakshadi Kudineer 60ml Twice daily before food. 

Any of these medicine should be used under the strict supervision of a qualified siddha physician only.

Food Modifications

  1.  Should take protien diet regularly.
  2. Take more amount of 
    1. Green gram 
    2. Phyllanthus neruri - Kizhanelli
    3. Eclipta prostrata - Karisalai/Kaithonni
    4. Alternanthera sessilis - Ponnangkanni
    5. Pomegranate- Mathulai/mathalam
    6. Dates etc
  3. Should avoid Alcohol, oily foods and salty foods.

Treatment for cirrhosis depends on the cause and extent of your liver damage. The goals of treatment are to slow the progression of scar tissue in the liver and to prevent or treat symptoms and complications of cirrhosis.

Paronychia (Nagachuttu) Treatment in siddha

 Paronychia ( Nagachuttu / Kuzhi nagham)is a skin infection that develops around the nail. It occurs due to bacteria or fungal infection. It affect skin around the nail of at least one finger or toe. It typically develops around the edges of the nail at the bottom or sides. This skin infection causes inflammation, swelling, and discomfort around the nail. Abscesses containing pus can also form.


 Treatment

 

External Application

  1. Padikara neer - used for washing purpose
  2. Thriphala churna - Decoction - used for washing
  3. Punga thylam - for external appliucation on nails
  4. Mathan Thylam- For external appication and bandage

 Internal medicines

  1. Rasagandhi mezhugu 500 mg 10 1 gmtwice daily with palm jaggery after food.
  2. Parangipattai churnam 5 gm Twice daily with Milk.
  3. Parangipattai kudineer 30-60 ml Twice daily Before food.
  4. Arugan kattai Kudineer 30-60 ml Twice daily.

 One should maintain nail hygiene and should follow proper medication to get rid of this disease.
